Continued Professional Development

What does CPD cover?

Heartbeat’s CPD covers a diverse range of topics, and the Heartbeat CPD Programme on TeamNet hosts a library that has over 90 recordings so far! Here is a list of topics that hold one or more of our educational recordings under each heading. The most recent recordings can be also found on the Homepage.

About CPD

Heartbeat Primary Care CIC, in conjunction with the ICB and PCNs, provides clinical and non-clinical education as well as local and national updates for the staff of Hambleton and Richmondshire (H&R) GP Practices.

National and local Consultants, GPs and Nurses present on their specialist subjects, keeping the staff of these practices up to date with relevant information, which is directly beneficial to the patients they care for.

This education is predominantly through four face-to-face events per year in a hotel setting. The H&R practices have opportunity to close their practices for the afternoon, allowing time for peer discussion, teamwork, and deliberation on current issues within healthcare, as well as providing clinical education.  Over one hundred attend the live events on a regular basis and for those that cannot attend, we record the speakers’ presentations and post them on Heartbeat’s CPD Programme in TeamNet for all staff to catch up on.

Who is CPD aimed at?

This education is provided for clinical and non-clinical primary care healthcare professionals, but it’s end goal is to support the care of their patients.

Heartbeat’s CPD also aims to encourage collaboration between all healthcare professionals through a neighbourhood approach, whether clinical or non-clinical, primary or secondary care and/or supplementary services; the outcome of which provides joined up care for the patient between those services, as well as good relations across the services.
